Sectoral Adaptation Plans

The impacts of climate change will be felt across all parts of our society, environment and economy. We are therefore developing Sectoral Adaptation Plans to make important links between organisations and work areas.

We will have Sectoral Adaptation Plans (SAPs) for:

  • Natural Environment;
  • Infrastructure;
  • Communities;
  • Business and tourism; and
  • Health (already published, available on the right).

We are trying to get climate preparation embedded into policies and programmes across the Welsh Government so we are taking advantage of opportunities to team up with other departments as they develop their policies. This is our approach to the Natural Environment SAP, for example, which will be threaded into the Natural Environment Framework / Living Wales that is currently being developed.

Where there is no appropriate policy development to link up with, we will develop the SAPs as standalone documents but in partnership with other teams and stakeholders to ensure that the SAP is accepted by the sector community. The Health SAP has already been established as in this way, and this may be the way in which the Communities and Business and tourism SAPs are developed.
