The content on this page has yet to be rewritten for GOV.WALES. It is still correct and up-to-date.

This page signposts information about whether disposable nappies are better or worse for the environment than reusable nappies.

A life cycle study (external link) released (17 October 2008) by the Environment Agency answers some of these questions and provides evidence on how the choices parents make, can affect climate change.

Real Nappy Campaign

We fund the Real Nappy campaign (external link). This campaign is run by Waste Awareness Wales (external link). It fits into their objectives for promoting waste prevention and waste education.

Promotion of real nappies also encourages the development of jobs within Wales, such as nappy agents, laundries and production of real nappies. This work supports sustainable development, which we put at the centre of everything we do.
