We also work with the Water Services Regulation Authority (Ofwat) (external link). Ofwat is responsible for regulating water and sewerage providers in England and Wales.

Water Resources Management Plans

Water companies are required to prepare and maintain Water Resources Management Plans to show how they intend to balance supply and demand for water in their area over the next 25 years.

In 2016 we published the Water Resources Management Plan Direction 2016 and the Welsh Government Guiding Principles for Developing Water Resources Management Plans (WRMP’s) for 2020.

Water companies must consult on their plans once they have been completed and submitted to us. The plans will be made available on the water company websites.
