The Eatwell Guide shows our recommendations on healthy eating. It shows the different types of food we need to eat, and in what proportions, to have a well balanced and healthy diet.

From Plate to Guide: What, why and how for the eatwell model

This report (external link) details the research on the development of the 'Eatwell Guide’.

The national diet and nutrition survey 

This survey looks at what people eat, and what nutrients they get from their diets.  We have funded  a Welsh sample of 200 people a year (100 adults and 100 children) since 2009. This data is analysed every four years. 

Nutrition legislation

From 1 October 2010 responsibility for nutrition legislation in Wales transferred to us from the Food Standards Agency. We are responsible for making sure European wide nutrition legislation is put into Welsh law.
