Wales Revalidation Delivery Board

This has been established to oversee the ongoing implementation of revalidation of doctors.

Medical revalidation is a process of regulating licensed doctors, which aims to:

  • give confidence to patients that their doctors are up to date and fit to practise
  • support doctors in their professional development
  • contribute to quality improvement and patient safety
  • sustain and improve public confidence in the profession.

The Wales Revalidation Delivery Board is currently chaired by Dr Chris Jones, Deputy Chief Medical Officer. This position is renewable on an annual basis and is appointed by the Chief Medical Officer.

Its membership includes representatives from:

  • doctors and employers in the NHS
  • the independent sector
  • British Medical Association
  • Post Graduate Deanery
  • Community Health Councils
  • Welsh Government.
