This TAN provides guidance on the preparation of Joint Housing Land Availability Studies.

The purpose of these Studies is to provide an agreed statement of residential land availability for development planning and development management purposes.

It reflects the Welsh Government national policy requirement for local planning authorities to ensure sufficient land is genuinely available to provide a 5 year supply of land for housing. The TAN sets out how land supply must inform the strategy contained in the development plan and its subsequent monitoring through Annual Monitoring Reports.
