This TAN provides guidance on land use planning in relation to renewable energy.

It provides advice on areas including onshore renewable energy technologies, design and energy and how renewable energy should be accounted for as part of development plans, development management and monitoring processes.

Since the publication of TAN 8: Planning for Renewable Energy there have been some policy and legislative changes. Annex A of the Chief Planning Officers (CPOs) letter ’Publication of Planning Policy Wales Edition 4, February 2011’ sets out these changes. It should be read alongside TAN 8.
